Barbara was a leading woman on Wall Street, beginning her career at Hayden
Stone as an assistant trader and continuing at Shearson and subsequent
companies until her retirement in 1993 as an executive vice president of
Shearson Lehman. She founded Spackenkill Trading, an independent
commodities trading advisory, and she served on the board of the Future
Industries Institute. Following retirement, Barbara devoted herself to
philanthropy, celebrating the protection of open space, landscapes, and
gardens. She was Director Emeritus of New Yorkers for Parks, Chair of the
Cultural Landscape Foundation, and Founding Chair of the Yellow Farmhouse
Education Center. She was also a director of WellMet Philanthropy. Barbara
lived in New York City and Stonington CT where she was a founder of Stone
Acres Farm.
