Every culture has a food pocket. Join us for a world tour with stops in the England, Italy, Latin America, and China. Come make food pockets with friends. Play on the farm and have a meal together from April 14 - 17th at the farmhouse!

Yellow Farmhouse and Stone Acres farmers will help you create a blueprint for your beds, plan for produce throughout the growing season, manage weeds and pests sustainably, tend tomatoes, cultivate your soil, and put your garden to rest in the fall. $35 per workshop!

The Art of Baking at Meryl Bakery: Gluten-Free Pastry Essentials

Jessica Spivey from Meryl Bakery will welcome you into her kitchen and teach you to work with sourdough, bake with whole grains, and create gluten-free bakes. Gluten-Free Pastry Essentials will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 2PM - 5PM.

Youth Cooking Classes at The COMO

May 6, 2025

Calling all aspiring young chefs, ages 7-11, to join the COMO and Yellow Farmhouse Education Center for an exciting multi-week series of hands-on cooking classes. Throughout the program, chefs will explore essential cooking techniques, from knife skills and "mise en place" to learning different cooking methods such as sautéing, baking, and grilling. Each week, young chefs will build confidence in the kitchen, experiment with fresh ingredients, and create delicious meals to enjoy and share.

Brewed With Purpose: An 860Kombucha Journey at the UNITED

Join us at the UNITED Table as the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center sits in conversation with David Brannan, founder and head brewer of Mystic’s own 860Kombucha, the first kombucha brewery in Eastern Connecticut. Learn about the history and art of Kombucha and 860’s partnerships with local farms where they source the fresh and ingredients that flavor their brews. Taste a seasonal kombucha brewed especially for this event!

Bubbling Brews: The Science and Craft of Kombucha

May 15, 2025

Join David Brannan, the founder and head brewer at 860Kombucha, to learn about the art of fermenting tea. You will learn how to use a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to guide your tea through fermentation, flavor it with ingredients of your choice, and create a SCOBY hotel (storage container) for continuous brewing. You will taste a variety of 860Kombucha flavors and leave with a kombucha home brewing kit!

Spring in a Bottle: Crafting Vinegars at Home

May 29, 2025

In this workshop, Harry Rosenblum, author of Vinegar Revival, will teach you how to ferment and flavor vinegar. Harry will share how to cultivate a mother, brew vinegar at home, and explore recipes that use vinegar to enhance your favorite dishes. You will sample vinegars flavored with spring botanicals and use them to make an aioli and a shrub to bring back to your home kitchens. Cookbooks will be available for purchase.
